The Perfect Carcass (-16 C)

When I first arrived, a coyote was sitting on the top of the carcass ripping away at the elk meat. As I

approached closer within camera range the coyote

ran away.

I came back about an hour later.

My heart was racing because I thought it was a wolverine or cougar but instead it turned out to be a stray dog looking for a good meal.

DECEMBER 2010

2010 has been a great year for photography. Having a 300mm f/4 and a 400mm f/5.6 lens has made a world of difference in getting that perfect shot. Two of the biggest lessons in photography I have learned this year is to try to get the shutter at least at 1/500th or faster and use of aperture at 5.6 or 8.0.

Of course in the real world of photography sometimes you have to shoot with what light nature gives you.

When the subject does stay in one spot for any length of time a monopod and manual settings on your camera are great for a better exposure and a sharper image.
